You know the Sucker Die Box trick, right? Thayer invented the Double Door in 1912 and made hundreds of them. He was so successful that he expanded his product line to include small and larger sizes than the original 3-inch die box. He also made variations on the trick with billiard balls, coins, cigarette packs, alarm clocks and more. Among the very unique and quite rare version is the Break-Away Die Box.
This is a Thayer Break-Away Die Box (shown apart). The two compartments attach via a slide mechanism. There's still the sound of the die moving from side to side. But in this version, the sides are held feet apart, without connection until they are re-joined. Click to enlarge photo.
